Sarah Walters Blue & White Vase Series

A series of one-of-a-kind stoneware vases, each hand-painted with expressive cobalt motifs of irises, grasses, leaves and dragonflies across a soft, atmospheric ground. Delicate bands of pattern at the rim or foot lend each vessel its own quiet character.

Hand-thrown in white stoneware and reduction-fired in a gas kiln, the process softens the glaze and draws the cobalt deep into the surface. Inspired by traditional blue-and-white Chinese ceramics, Sarah mixes her own pigments and paints each piece freehand, making every vase entirely unique.

Sculptural on their own and equally beautiful holding a single stem or seasonal arrangement, they are especially striking when grouped in twos or threes.
